Every 5–6 days, as the Sun enters a new gate in the Human Design Mandala, I’ll share a timely transmission you can read like an integrative horoscope for the days ahead.

Sat, November 22- Thurs, November 27 (Thanksgiving Day): Welcome to the First Polarity of the Sagittarius-Gemini Axis
It’s time to say ciao for now to the Scorpio Sun & Taurus Earth gates. We’ve moved onto busier pastures: The Sagittarius/Gemini Axis will be our territory for the next month.
We begin the season of the Centaur-Archer with the Sun transiting through Gate 34: The Gate of POWER. This energy is known as the busiest and most capable of all 64 Gates, that Sagittarius energy that’s ready to bust out of it’s walls after the still, dark depths of Scorpio Season. It’s also known as a busy gate because Gate 34 is the only gate to connect with 3 other Gates in the Bodygraph - 57, 20, and 10, joining the Sacral center with the Spleen, Throat, and G (Heart) Center, respectively. Because of the multiple channels it can light up, the raw power of the sacral can manifest in different ways, from verbal to instinctual.
Across the wheel, the earth is transiting through Gate 20: The Gate of The Now, which is all about living in the present moment. Gate 20 is the first of the gates in Gemini season- think about the energy of late spring, when flowers are blooming, the world is coming alive around you, and all you want to do is sit there and soak it all in. 34 is the energy where personal sovereignty gives us energy to make it through winter, and 20 is the life-giving energy of “we’re all interconnected parts of something much larger than ourselves”.
This week’s polarity is one of only 3 instances in the human design system where the 2 opposite gates on the mandala ALSO form a complete channel in the bodygraph. The channel formed by the 34-20 is called the Channel of Charisma, and anyone born this week will have it AND automatically be a Manifesting Generator type, because the 34-20 is the pure mani-gen channel, connecting the sacral to the throat: Power to the Now!
The other two polarities that also form channels are:
the 43-23, Insight <> Assimilation, which are on the Scorpio/ Taurus axis, form the Channel of Structuring and connect the 3rd eye to the throat center,
and 37-40, Friendship <> Aloneness, the Pisces and Virgo gates that form the Channel of Community and connect the solar plexus and the ego/will center.
Most opposite gates do not connect to each other in the bodygraph, but these three pairs do. This happens only 3 times out of 36 channels, so they’re pretty special. Most oppositions stay conceptual, but 34–20, 37–40, and 43–23 become lived mechanics. They form clean, self-contained processes: the immediacy of responsive power, the give-and-take of community, and the leap from inner knowing to spoken truth. Their polarity isn’t symbolic. It runs through the body, which gives these channels a clarity and inevitability that the others don’t quite match.
Anyone born during these transits are born with the channel active because the sun and earth complete the channel. During the time of the transits, everyone on earth feels the energy of these centers activated, too- this week ahead we will all feel Manifesting Generator energy, with our raw sacral power being transmitted to our throats.
Get ready to hear some gut level truths being spoken!
The sun in Sagittarius Gate 34 is opposite from the earth in Gemini gate 20, and these two gates also form the channel of Charisma in the bodygraph, as you can see in the image above. This means that, due to this transit, we will all have our throats and sacral centers activated for the next 5 days. Get ready for some powerful communication!

If you have a gate defined, you will probably be more familiar with it’s energy, and it can be interesting to look at it’s polar opposite gate too!
For example, my natal Uranus is conjunct my Jupiter in gate 34. Starting early next year, transiting Uranus will oppose my natal Uranus in gate 20. So, i’m feeling into this polarity energy of 34-20 this week to understand the influences of how the much longer Uranus opposition transit will potentially rock my world…. )
This week, inner strength meets the present moment.
Gate 34: Power
The sun in Gate 34 asks us to consider the difference between Force and Power. In the Gene Keys, Force is the shadow frequency of this energy, and Strength is the gift. Force, here, is a very primordial action- like the force of a plant sprouting up above the crust of the earth, or the spine of an ape becoming upright in the journey of human evolution.
Except for times like this- evolutionary, primordial times- force is not the best route, and when we force something, it oftentimes results in the opposite results from what we desire. But in our modern culture, we often associate the word “Power” with the concept of having power over something, or having to use force to maintain control. But this is often like forcing a round peg into a square hole.
This is because real power, in the sense of this I’Ching hexagram, does not mean power over- it refers to the truth that we only have real power when it is power with something or someone. It draws on the notion that when we force something, we almost always meet resistance- but when we tap into our inner strength, centeredness, and resolve, we can easily move through obstacles.
It’s like a hand chopping through a wooden block. In the martial sense, gathering our inner resolve and grounding into our qi along with the earth’s yin energy is the source of true power- in contrast to flexing our muscles and flailing about punching the air, wasting energy and creating enemies. Power and strength here do not need to be demonstrated or proven, they simply are.

Gate 34’s Power has the potential to evolve into the Siddhi of Majesty. At this frequency, those with the gate of power exude a vibration of inner strength that does not need any action to show off. It is the regal vibe of true sovereignty, someone who can channel the innate wisdom of the sky and the earth without lifting a finger, wielding great power without misusing it.
The hexagram is made up of the 2 trigrams Thunder over Heaven, a combination that evokes the image of a massive stormcloud in the sky that could cause either great flooding and lightning strikes or incredible relief- it’s all about recognizing the power within, and acting in good timing.
This gate is associated with the saying by the ancient Chinese philosopher Chuang Tzu: “Easy is right”, which suggests that the right path is one that flows naturally, without struggle or excessive effort, in harmony with right timing.
Gate 20: The Now
Speaking of timing, the Earth in Gate 20 this week brings us into the terrain of presence, asking us to notice the difference between thinking we’re paying attention and actually being aware in the present moment.
In the Gene Keys, the shadow of this gate is Superficiality, which here is the tendency to skim over our experience or speak before we’ve actually touched the truth of the moment. 20’s gift, Self-Assurance, comes in when we settle into ourselves long enough to see clearly rather than get caught up in reacting to everything.
In the I’Ching, Hexagram 20 is known as Contemplation, which is formed by the trigrams Wind over Earth. This evokes a gentle breeze that moves over solid ground, inviting a quiet and unhurried way of perceiving. Similarly to the philosophy of true Power in gate 34, Gate 20 teaches that real clarity comes less from effort or analysis and more from relaxed observation and contemplation. When we stay in the present moment and see what is there without pushing or forcing our own agenda, the shape of things reveals itself on its own.
Gate 20 is in the throat center- it is the voice of the Now, the capacity to speak what is true only when we are fully in the moment. When the Earth anchors this gate, it pulls our awareness out of the future we’re trying to manage and the past we’re trying to interpret, and brings us back to the actual current experience unfolding in our body.
At its highest expression, the Siddhi of Presence dissolves the split between the watcher and the watched. It allows for action and expression to flow in clean alignment. Connected to gate 34, gate 20 asks us to witness, to pause, and to let our seeing deepen until our own powerful truth rises naturally from within us. This week, that truth moves from our sacral centers, the seats of our innate and divine power, up to our throats and voices, without any detours.
Integrating Power and The Now
Gate 34 and Gate 20 make a surprisingly down-to-earth combo. When integrated, Gate 34 brings the raw juice, the urge to act from our most primordial energy center, while Gate 20 reminds us to take a sacred pause and actually take in what’s happening in the moment. Together, they teach that your energy works best when it’s not rushing ahead of your awareness. This week, catch yourself before you leap, and realize your body already knows the right timing by trusting in the power of the now.
When these gates link up, everything has the potential to get simpler. Gate 20 gives Gate 34 just enough perspective so your power lands cleanly and doesn’t feel forced. Gate 34 keeps Gate 20 from overthinking things too much. The result of their integration is strength that feels honest instead of forced.

Gate 34: Claim Your Power
This week, honor the truth of your energy in real time. Let your actions emerge from real response to your senses, not reaction to your expectation. 34’s assignment is to use strength cleanly, without forcing outcomes or performing for approval, trusting that authentic power is simply the right action taken at the right moment- remember, it’s power with, not power over.

Let your awareness catch up to your mouth. 20 invites you to name what is true now, without rehearsing or rushing. The assignment of 20 is to root your expression- and your power- in presence, allowing clarity to arise in it’s own time rather than scrambling to explain or justify. (Try to remember this as you gather with family for Thanksgiving!)
