Neptune Meets Saturn in Aries: Clocks Melting at the Beginning of Time
On February 20, Neptune and Saturn conjoin at 0 Aries, the first degree of the Zodiac
Time is supposed to behave….right?
It’s supposed to tick forward in orderly increments, keep appointments, hold cause and effect in a clean line, and reassure us that if we just plan well enough, reality will cooperate.
I remember the first time I saw Salvador Dalí’s iconic painting, The Persistence of Memory (1931), when I was 9 years old. It was the real deal, at an incredible exhibit of Surrealism at a museum in Australia, and it blew my mind open. It was the first time I felt in my body that time didn’t exist in the way I thought it had.
Those limp, melting clocks draped over a branch and a ledge spoke to me, even at a young age: time is not as solid as we often feel like we need it to be. Time softens, it warps, and it behaves differently depending on what’s happening in our psyches, in our bodies, and in our dreams.
That painting has been coming to me as Neptune and Saturn close in on their fateful kiss, their conjunction at 0 degrees Aries on February 20, 2026: the threshold of a whole new astrological chapter, and as some predict, a new-feeling world.
When Neptune meets Saturn in Aries, clock faces start to sag, and we are each drawn into our own version of a lucid, embodied dream.
The Two Forces at the Center of the Painting
Astrologically, Saturn and Neptune are a truly paradoxical pair.
Saturn, known in Greece as Chronos or Kronos (the root of the world chronology), is the planet responsible for structures, boundaries, gravity, responsibility, and definition. Saturn says: Make what you’re focusing on real, tangible, foundational, and measurable.
Neptune, aka Poseidon in Greek mythology, is the god of dissolution, imagination, yearning, the invisible, and the oceanic realm. Neptune summons the part of us that says: Surrender, and let life be holy and deep. Let your inspiration be bigger than you can put your finger on.
When these two planets meet, we get a particular kind of disorientation. Life structures that previously felt unfallable are now exposed, and we realize they were only held together by the consensus of humans- and humans make errors. With this conjunction in Aries, the independent warrior, we’ll all creating our own timeline, our own structures. That broad and unified Piescean consensus is drooping like a hot clock in a surreal desert.
Saturn wants the clock to be hard and sturdy metal like grandpa’s watch always was, with clearly legible numbers and Swiss internal mechanics. But as the king of the sea Neptune meets daddy Saturn in intimate conversation, we will start to realize Time is nothing more than a dream we’re having… and no one is coming to wake us up.
And in Aries, the sign of upward growth, fresh starts, a warrior spirit, and urgent drive, there’s no time to sit around processing this debate politely in the parlor. We’ve got to take our internal version of time… and run with it. This means tending to the light in our hearts, setting boundaries, and choosing both our horizon and our speed.
Why Aries Changes Everything
Aries is the beginning. The catalyzing spark. The first breath of air. The sprout emerging above ground from the underground seed. The will to exist and to act without looking back.
So when Saturn and Neptune meet up at the first degree of Aries, we’re not just talking about “restructuring” or “spiritual lessons”, reframing what already exists. We’re talking about the birth of a new kind of reality-making, and the painful, awkward, exhilarating consequences of trying to initiate something brand new while the old rules dissolve.
In this new turning of the wheel, Neptune blurs and shows us where we are part of something much larger than ourselves, and Saturn demands accountability of our individual life force. The age of the spiritual warrior is beginning, which means:
“Leap of faith” meets “I’ll believe it when I see it”
Vision meets discipline and focus.
Idealism is shown tangible consequences.
The new world is knocking on the door, but the blueprint is written in wet ink.
Dalí’s Clocks as a Neptune–Saturn Oracle
If you look at The Persistence of Memory, you can read it like an omen for this transit.
The melting clocks
These timepieces are Neptune’s signature, showing how time is truly fluid. Linear progression stops being reliable in this new era, as each of our psyches -and the algorithms that track them through cyberspace- lead us more toward strong personal beliefs swimming in a sea of opinions.
Under Neptune, people often say things like: “I don’t know what I want anymore.”, or “Everything I used to believe feels porous”, or “I can no longer force what feels untrue.”
The clocks of the old world are melting because our old measurement systems can’t hold what’s trying to come through. It’s disorienting AF, but also can be deeply liberating if you can remember not to struggle against the waves and instead surf the current of change.
The hard surfaces beneath the clocks
The square, table-like blocks beneath the clocks in the painting are Saturn’s signature. In our waking lives, the world still expects a stable form. Rent and bills and 9-to-5’s still exist. Our bodies still age, our flesh still sags, and our bones turn brittle. Regardless of clocks melting off the page, consequences to our actions still apply.
Saturn doesn’t care that your spiritual awakening disrupted your calendar. Saturn, the lord of chronological time, may recognize that something- everything- is different now, but he still wonders: what are you starting to build so you can to find stable footing within the shifting landscape?
The barren landscape and the eerie stillness
The desert landscape and the sea with no currents seems to represent the in-between space where one worldview is dying while a new one is coming into form. The perfect reflection in the sea alludes to another dimension that is visible from where we stand, but we’re not sure if we can reach it through the stagnant heat.
With this image in mind, this conjunction of Neptune and Saturn in Aries might feel like standing at the starting line with a map that keeps changing before your eyes, or trying to commit to a path while your inner compass recalibrates. We are being asked to act from our soul instinct instead of what we been patterned to believe in the before-times.
The “Beginning of Time” as a Psychological Event
Some chapters in life don’t feel like just another “next step”. They feel like a reset of the entire timeline. Neptune–Saturn in Aries may have a way of triggering that sensation, making our old identity feel irrelevant or vacuous.
We may begin to feel time in our bodies in a different way, with our nervous systems refusing to operate at the pace we had become used to in our previous lifetimes. We may feel the call of a new vocation or passion, but have no map or precedent for how to get there.
Happening in such a martial, action-oriented sign as Aries, the question with this conjunction is: What do you do when you can’t rely on the old clock but you still have to move?
The Shadow: Holy Confusion and Weaponized Certainty
As with any transit, when Saturn and Neptune merge, there is a shadow side that we shouldn’t overlook.
Neptune shadow: “Nothing matters”
The Neptunian shadow is nihilism. The sea is too big, so nothing we do really matters. Avoidance can be disguised as spirituality, numbing out, floating, or rotting in our beds waiting for a sign while life passes us by.
Saturn shadow: “Only what I can control is real”
The Saturnian shadow is hardening ourselves to the world. It shows up as moral rigidity, a deep fear of ambiguity, and the desperate need for rules because uncertainty feels like death.
Aries adds fire to the flame, which means these shadows can come out louder, faster, and more impulsively than they did when Neptune and Saturn were floating in the waters of Pisces. Know that as you navigate the world around you, some people will respond by dissolving, and others will respond by clamping down.
Finding out how to make a life-raft while the tide is already rising is the mission. Make it with disciplined surrender- it must be strong enough to hold your new visions, but humble enough to let your visions evolve in real time.
The Gift: A New Contract With Reality
At its best, Neptune meeting Saturn is a sacred collaboration between powerful entities, entities that can attune us to the tangible and spiritual natures of reality at the same time. Neptune supplies the dream and the deeper mythos, and Saturn supplies the craft and the container. In Aries, there will be courage to dive into that dream with wild abandon (and Saturn will ensure that you don’t forget your oxygen mask.)
This is a transit that can support:
building structures for your life around a deeper calling
putting a real foundation under spiritual work (or creative work) so it can last into the future
learning how to act confidently and courageously, even without perfect certainty
How to Work With Neptune/Saturn in Aries: Practical Mysticism
If the clocks are already melting, we don’t need to waste time trying to fix them. The old world is gone. Clocks dripping off of surfaces is a sign to direct our orientation toward our inner sense of timing- our intuitive, embodied sense.
Here are few grounded approaches that could help you through this transit over the coming months and years:
Choose a brave, simple commitment and stick to it. Aries is the first step out the gate, not the 10-year plan.
Build containers for the intangible. If your intuition is loud, give it a practice and a structure, like journaling, set studio hours, accountability buddies, or devotional practices on a schedule.
Track reality, not fantasies. Neptune can inflate the ego and fog the mirror. Saturn brings us back to the ground, reminding us to consider: what’s actually happening? what’s measurable? what’s repeatable?
Let the timeline breathe. Find the middle ground between stagnation and speed. Aries is the spark of cardinal fire, so remember that not every spark will light- you just have to keep striking the match.
Name your non-negotiables. Boundaries are a love language always, but especially during Neptune transits.
Mini-Horoscopes for the Neptune/Saturn in Aries conjunction

Saturn and Neptune in Aries: Rising Sign Horoscopes
Today at 11:35pm EDT, Saturn moves from the sign of Pisces the fish to Aries the ram. This is a huge transition for the planet known as the Father of Time: a shift from the womb to the world, from the primordial soup to the first single-celled organism, from a seed in the soil to a brave sprout breaking through and reaching for the sky.
The butter-like clocks in conjunction with the precise stillness of Dali’s Persistence of Memory evoke the feeling of Neptune meeting Saturn, bringing forth a sober encounter with mystery.
Meeting this pair at the threshold of Aries and the beginning of the entire Zodiac, we are forced to consider what we’ll dare to begin, even as the ways of orienting to the old world dissolve.
