Sagittarius Season 🔥🔥🔥: From Deep Waters to Galloping Fires
Happy Sag Season, everyone.
Is it just me, or was this the longest and darkest Scorpio season we’ve ever experienced? The haunting depths we collectively dove into during the month of the fixed water sign were powerfully deep, my friends. Things may never look the same again after seeing what we saw in our internal caverns and as the underworld around us rose to the surface for all to see.
And although Venus, Mercury (Rx) and Black Moon Lilith are still lurking in Scorpio’s underworld, the radiant sun is striding toward the fiery realm of Sagittarius today. Hallelujiah.
Sagittarius, the mythical Centaur-Archer, is a mutable fire sign ruled by Jupiter, associated with journey & adventure, philosophical expansiveness, and restless movement, with the power and rhythm of a horse and the idealism and focus of a skilled archer.
Astronomically, Sagitarrius is the Zodiac season that leads us up to the Winter Solstice, celebrated as Yule in the Pagan Wheel of the Year. This is a holy day that celebrates the return of the light after the longest night.
In the Medicine Wheel, Sag season takes us into the realm of the north, the place of spirituality, elderhood, and the element wind, evoking a quality of dispersing wisdom to the 4 directions. In the Taoist 5-element cycle, this is the season that takes us from discerning, focused, and specific Metal to still, surrendered, and purified Water.
After the first half of the year (Aries-Virgo seasons) that are focused on the growth of new life , Sagittarius approaches the midway point of the second half of the year (Libra-Pisces), which is focused on death, descent and decay.
Ecologically, Sagittarius season is the time of year when traditional cultures would light controlled burns to further break down the plant matter that was composted during Scorpio season, creating a carbon-rich soil. The moving, mutable fire of these burns was the only thing that could crack open hard seed casings and release seeds into the soil so that new life can emerge in the spring.
In our lives, that’s what this season is about too: breaking open and breaking free. After going to the deepest depths of our souls, our ancestral lines, and our shadows in the time of the Scorpion, the Phoenix has risen from the ashes and is ready to fly.
The 6 human design gates of the season take us through the themes of Power, Focus, Fixed Rhythm, Ego, Ideas, and finally Self-Love. Sag season is a time to take what has been distilled in our internal worlds and bring it to the surface to see how it spreads and changes.
