Welcome to the astrological new year! The birds are chirping, the bulbs underground are popping their little daffodilly sprouts out into the breezy air, and the Pyramids of Giza have been discovered to be an ancient underground power grid…. (check it out, it’s really incredible).
What other transformative revelations are in store for us in 2025? We’re only just scratching the surface… And the Aries Ingress Chart can give us a clue about the year ahead.
(Note: I usually only write weekly forecasts and focus on the energetic cycle of the wheel of the year, but I’m feeling a call to experiment with occasional posts about larger cycles. Diving into the energetic year ahead on the Astrological New Year seemed like a great place to start! Let me know what you think).
So… what is an Aries Ingress Chart?
Dating back to ancient times, Astrologers have cast a chart for the spring equinox at 0° Aries. This moment (which was this morning at 3:01am MST) marks the Astrological New Year, the moment when the Sun enters the part of the sky known as Aries, the first sign of the zodiac. This chart is commonly known as the Aries Ingress Chart, and it serves as a blueprint for the astrological themes of the upcoming year.
The Aries Ingress Chart has played a significant role in Middle Eastern and Persian astrology for centuries. This practice dates back to the Hellenistic, Sassanian, and Islamic Golden Age traditions, where astrologers used it to predict events for the upcoming year, particularly for rulers and nations. The Zoroastrian astrologers of Persia emphasized the ingress of the Sun into Aries as a cosmic marker of renewal, aligning with Nowruz, the Persian New Year. (Nowruz Mobarak to all who celebrate!)
During the Islamic Golden Age (8th–14th centuries), the Aries ingress chart became a cornerstone of Mundane Astrology (Tājik Astrology). Scholars like Abū Maʿshar al-Balkhī (787–886 CE) and Al-Biruni (973–1048 CE) developed advanced methods of ingress forecasting, using the Aries Ingress chart to predict:
The fate of kings and empires
Weather patterns and natural disasters
Economic and agricultural cycles
Wars and political upheavals
Why is 0° Aries Significant?
The spring equinox is my own personal new year- I can feel the thawing of winter reaching a breaking point in my body around this time of year. 0° Aries is:
The Beginning of the Zodiac Wheel – Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, symbolizing new beginnings, initiative, and fresh energy. The Sun's entry into Aries marks a shift in collective energy, setting the tone for the year ahead.
The Equinox: A Moment of Balance – As the sun crosses the celestial equator, the spring equinox is one of two times in the year when day and night are of equal length, representing a cosmic reset. The equilibrium between light and dark makes it a potent time for reflection and forward movement.
Mundane Astrology & Global Themes – The Aries ingress chart, especially when cast for the capital of a country, is used in mundane astrology (the study of world events) to predict social, economic, and political trends for the year ahead.

The 2025 Aries Ingress: A Human Design Perspective
The Cunning Farmer recently wrote an awesome essay here on Substack about the US Aries Ingress Chart, and it inspired me to apply it to the Human Design Chart for the 0 degree Aries Ingress Point.
Looking at the astrology alone gives us a glimpse into the major themes for the U.S. in the year ahead. This chart sets the tone for the next 12 months, and 2025 looks like a big year of transition, reflection, and bold new beginnings.
I decided to take a look and see what the human design chart for the Aries Ingress point has to say about the year ahead.
A little about Human Design (for those familiar with astrology)
I love adding in information from the gates of human design to astrological readings, as I see the gates as specific stages within the sign’s archetype- they can provide a lot of detail that relates to the sign in a specific way. Coming from an astrological background, I find that looking into the active gates around the circular mandala of the Zodiac is the most intuitive way to read a Human Design Chart in a detailed way and intuitive way.
Looking at the mandala before I look at the bodygraph also allows me to notice aspects and angles between planets in the chart (like in an astrology chart) and also deduce which houses in my chart will be influenced by these energies. Then, I look to the bodygraph for information on how these transits might energetically show up in an energetic, embodied way.
For anyone who’s not familiar with Human Design, the black “Personality” planets/gates listed on the right of the chart are the same as in an astrology birth chart. The red “Design” planets and gates listed on the left side of the chart are the placement of the planets in the sky 88 days (88 degrees of solar arc movement) before birth (which is the end of the 2nd trimester of pregnancy, when the neocortex develops in the womb).
The way I see it, the black/Personality planets and points provide show who we think we are—our mind, awareness, and self-perception. This is the part of us that makes conscious decisions and interacts with the world based on learned experiences. The red/Design planets & gates influence our bodies, genetic inheritance, and subconscious programming. These traits operate beneath the surface—you may not always recognize them, but others will.
I considered both in the Aries ingress chart- obviously the US was not “in the womb” 88 days ago, but here the design side of the chart represents the unconscious or underlying foundation of the year ahead—the deeper forces shaping what unfolds over time.
The Personality (Black) tells us what’s immediately visible, like global themes, public reactions, and how the event plays out in the world.
The Design (Red) tells us what’s happening beneath the surface, showing the hidden forces shaping the long-term effects of the event.
In mundane astrology, we often look at aspects to outer planets to understand historical and generational cycles—the Design side of Human Design offers a similar deeper, karmic layer of interpretation.
For example, in the 2025 Aries Ingress Chart (which sets the tone for the year ahead):
The Personality (Black) placements show the visible themes of 2025—what people will experience and be aware of.
The Design (Red) placements reveal the deeper purpose and unconscious patterns shaping the year’s long-term evolution.
So while personal charts use the Design side to show the body’s intelligence, mundane charts use it to show the unconscious mechanics of time and collective evolution.
Core Themes of the 2025 Aries Ingress HD Chart
Type, Profile, Strategy & Authority
The 2025 Aries Ingress Human Design Chart carries the energy of a 2/4 Manifestor, setting the tone for a year of bold initiation, emotional intensity, and a deep exploration of love and connection. With only one active channel (35-36, Transitoriness), and definition in the Throat and Emotional Solar Plexus, this chart speaks to a year of emotional waves, spontaneous action, and powerful shifts in collective awareness.
TYPE: Manifestor – The Manifestor type of this chart means 2025 is about taking action, initiating new paths, and stepping into leadership. Manifestor years would tend to bring big changes, disruptions to the status quo, and a push for greater independence. However, because the only defined centers are Throat and Solar Plexus, this year is emotionally driven, and success will depend on how well people navigate their feelings before taking action.
PROFILE: 2/4 - Conscious hermit, unconscious opportunist. In a mundane chart, a 2/4 profile suggests a year that unfolds with a mix of natural momentum and strategic relationships. The 2nd line energy indicates a year that carries an inherent flow, almost as if it is unfolding effortlessly or is being “called out” into existence by external circumstances. But, this energy remains somewhat passive until activated. The 4th line influence highlights the importance of networks, alliances, and foundational structures in shaping the year. Opportunities and developments will likely arise through existing relationships rather than direct efforts. This profile shows that the outcome of the year depends on both our innate inner potential and the strength of the connections surrounding us.
AUTHORITY: Emotional - Collective decisions, responses, and major events throughout the year will be deeply influenced by emotional waves rather than pure logic or instinct. 2025 is not a year for rushed decisions or reactive choices. It’s about riding the emotional waves, finding clarity through experience, and trusting that emotions are guiding us toward necessary transformation. The world is shifting, and this year will require emotional intelligence, patience, and surrender to the ebb and flow of change.
STRATEGY: The strategy of an Emotional Authority Manifestor is to inform before acting - but not impulsively. Unlike other Manifestors who may move quickly, those with emotional authority must ride their emotional wave before making big decisions. Clarity comes over time, not in the heat of the moment.
Their power lies in initiating from a place of emotional truth, not reaction. When they wait for emotional clarity, their impact is more aligned, influential, and sustainable. If they act too soon, they risk regret or resistance from others. Patience strengthens their Manifestor power—when they move from clarity, they create lasting change.
SIGNATURE THEME: Peace / NOT SELF THEME: Anger – Peace is the natural state when things are aligned, but anger surfaces when control is lost or things don’t move as desired. This suggests a year of frustration when obstacles arise, but also the potential for deep peace when actions are aligned with emotional truth.
DEFINITION: Single – Everything in this chart is self-contained, meaning the energy is direct, fast-moving, and doesn’t need others to process its experiences. This suggests a year of decisive, independent action, where leaders and individuals alike will feel the push to move forward on their own terms.
CHANNEL: Only One Active Channel – 35-36 (The Channel of Transitoriness) – This channel is all about change, emotional highs and lows, and seeking new experiences. It brings a restless energy that craves adventure, meaning 2025 could be full of fast-moving shifts, unpredictability, and an urge to break free from stagnation.
This is my favorite HD software Neutrino Design’s description of 35-36, the Channel of Transitoriness:
This Channel is about moving things in the direction of a new experience without following logic. It's about looking for adventures, regardless of what they are, that eventually lead to gaining experience in order to share it with other people. 36-35 likes to involve others in its own experiences. It will sometimes cause a crisis just to get things moving.
Gate 36 is here to grow through profound emotional experiences and turbulences. Gate 35 has a feeling for something new and boredom with the old. You are driven to search for experiences that promise progress. You gain wisdom through trial and error. Before starting an adventure your emotional waves might create a distorted perspective that make you look on the potential experience as something exciting and fun. However, you will often feel disappointed when it doesn't meet your expectations.
You should embrace these emotional waves and wait for emotional clarity when deciding which adventure to embark on. In the end all that matters is that you've gained emotional depth and wisdom from any experience, no matter how disappointing or far from your expectations it ended up being.

What is your HD energy type?
According to Human Design data, only 8% of people in the world are Manifestors ( meaning that they have a defined energy center conneted to their throat center, allowing them to manifest energy into outer reality), so it is a rare energetic signature.
I’m a projector, but have several manifestors in my family, although I don’t think I personally know any emotional-authority manifestors. It does sound about right for 2025, though, if you ask me! How the Planets affect 2025’s Human Design Energy
2025 is a year of deep emotional shifts, spiritual awakening, and restructuring of outdated systems. Welp… That’s all the planetary placements for the spring equinox AND 88 arc degrees/days prior to the equinox, giving us a full buffet of deep archetypical insights to consider. Although the HD chart doesn’t consider aspects and houses like an astrology ingress reading, I like it because it does look deep into the specific energies (gates) within each sign where the planet is located. I think looking at both astrology aspects/houses and Human Design gates/lines can give a truly illuminating big-picture!

Variables for the 2025 Aries Ingress HD Chart
Variable Sequence: PLLDRR- In this Variable sequence, the Personality arrows both point left and the Design arrows both point right. This sequence suggests a year centered on focused, strategic mindsets where we thrive in environments that allow for receptivity and fluidity. On the outside, the year presents the need to process information in a focused, analytical way, but on a more subconscious level, we are tasked to engage with the world in a more adaptable, go-with-the-flow manner.
Motivation: Innocence and Transference: Desire – This means that true alignment comes from acting with purity of heart and no attachment to outcomes.
