Hi friends.
My Uranus opposition landed the same day as this eclipse, and feeling into both of them taught me something I wanted to share.
An eclipse and an opposition are both axis points. They both put two things directly across from each other in the sky and ask us to look at both ends instead of picking a favorite.
This episode moves through two eclipses that landed almost exactly on my personal planets a year apart, and it keeps circling back to the same two elements. The eclipse axis this year is Leo and Aquarius. My Uranus opposition happened in Sagittarius and Gemini. Even Venus was activating a third fire-air pair that same day as the eclipse, in Libra opposite Neptune in Aries. Three separate axes, and every one of them fire on one end and air on the other, all asking for the same thing, which is a deeper integration of power and presence, formulas and emotional principles, far-sightedness and embodiment.
Leo and Virgo, this and last year’s eclipse cycles South Node, are the harvest signs, the fruit, the tangible and visible result you can hold in your hand. Pisces and Aquarius, where the North Node was and just moved, are more like the mycelium, the quiet root network doing its work underground where nobody’s watching.
And the thing I keep noticing, especially in myself, is that there’s so much shame that shows up whenever the South Node gets talked about collectively, this idea that we’re all supposed to be dropping our egos, shedding anything public or performative like it’s automatically the thing to release. I don’t think it’s that simple, and honestly I don’t think it’s fair to the fruit. The fruit isn’t wrong for being visible. The roots aren’t more virtuous for being hidden. Trying to rank one end of any axis over the other, especially the nodal axis, misses the entire point of an axis, which is that both ends are needed at the same time.
That lesson showed up for me in a much more personal way through my Uranus opposition. I’ve spent a long time judging my own Sagittarius stellium- the part of me that wants the big picture, the philosophy, the pattern that connects everything- for not being present enough, while envying the quicker, lighter Gemini energy sitting on the other side of my chart. I had a friend in high school whose sun lived right on that Gemini axis for me across from my natal Uranus and Jupiter, and being around her used to bring up all this old ache about not being able to get close enough, not being able to just be in the moment with people the way she could.
What I’m coming to understand now is that Sagittarius is the wildfire that breaks the old growth down so something new can grow, and Gemini is the pollinator season that comes after, in the other half of the year, and carries that growth forward. Neither one replaces the other; neither one is the more evolved sign. They’re two parts of the same cycle… and the whole wheel works the same way. Every axis in the chart is two halves of a single conversation, not one side that finally wins.
So if you’re feeling this eclipse or you’re anywhere near your own Uranus opposition right now, my honest suggestion is to notice where you’re subtly or blatantly ranking one of a pair of opposing planets above the other - and see if you can let both sides be true at once instead.
The full episode is llive, and it’s about my eclipse reflections and Uranus Opposition reflections, but moreso about the larger collective dynamics of Fire and Air, the two elements where all of the outer planets are living now, and will be for many years to come.
Join me this fall for my new course: Ecosomatic Astrology!
I’m so excited to announce Ecosomatic Astrology 101, starting on the fall equinox, September 22nd.
It’s six weeks, Tuesday evenings from 5-6:30 MST, and every session is recorded, so you can join live or catch up whenever works for you.
This course is the distillation of almost a decade of my own study and practice, and it’s built to change how you relate to your chart by grounding it into your body and the earth’s seasons.
We’ll move through the basics of astrology- the signs, the houses, the planets, the aspects, and beyond- but you’ll get there through embodiment practices and real time connecting with the seasons and the natural world, not just through your head. By the end you won’t only know what’s in your chart and how to read for others, you’ll know how it lives in your body and in the turning of the earth, and you’ll have real tools for coming back to that inner wisdom whenever you need it.
This course is designed for true beginners who want their first introduction to astrology to be embodied from the start, and it’s just as much for seasoned astrologers who already know the mechanics and are ready to bring an ecological, felt-sense perspective into your astrological tool kit.
If you’re also drawn to Human Design, my Ecosomatic Human Design course follows right after, from Samhain to Winter Solstice. Sign up for both and you’ll get a bundle discount plus a free one-on-one consultation with me! It’s going to be a fun fall.
