Uranus moved into Gemini just a couple days ago on April 25th after 7 years in Taurus, the last of the outer planets that has changed signs over the past year. If you have been feeling a strange electricity in your body, or a sense that your cells are reorganizing underneath the surface, you are not imagining it. This is a big shift into a new reality… and it is just getting started.
I wanted to mark this pivotal moment by talking to someone who knows this eccentric and liberating energy from the inside out.
My guest on today’s show, Christa Hamilton of Practical Astros, has Uranus in her first house, and she has spent her whole life feeling electrical insights move through her in ways that have sometimes been hard to explain. She came back to astrology in a serious way during her Uranus opposition, which is a mid-life transit that tends to shake you out of whatever comfortable rut you have settled into, and hands you the next version of your authentic self (whether you feel ready for it or not).
I have been sitting with this Uranus transit personally because it is initiating my Uranus opposition, and landing right in my 11th house, where I also have Chiron and my North Node waiting to be shaken up a bit. Uranus just spent 7 years moving through my 10th house, through becoming a mother and rebuilding my entire sense of what my work is and who I am in it, and now it moves into my house of community. Uranus in the 11th house is all about liberating your collaborative visions and seeing what becomes possible when you stop trying to do it alone, and that is just the feeling that catalyzed the series I am launching today.
Living the Spiral: Magicians is a new series where I’m having conversations with practitioners who have gone through an initiatory fire - and come out the other side with powerful magic to share with the collective.
Over the past couple of months, both Christa and I have been deep inside a space called The Magician’s Table. It’s a container started by Britten LaRue, where 13 self-identified magicians come together each week to trade readings and share glimmering feedback with each other in order to hone their skills, try out new voices, and engage in the realm of real magic.
Identifying as a magician is pretty bold. When I decided to join the table (and, in doing so, to call myself a magician), the feeling of real magic hasn’t left my side. Since I’ve had the audacity to label myself a magic being, so many other magical beings have been coming out of the woodwork to meet me in that space. So as Uranus enters my 11th house of hopes, dreams, and collaborations, I’m excited to bring some vivid conversations with magical baddies to the Living the Spiral community.

Christa and I talk about what it feels like to be a Uranian native, look back together at seven years of Uranus in Taurus and what that era brought to us, and we talk about how to meet the next seven to eight years with grace. Uranian electricity moves really fast in an air sign like Gemini, so we need a good toolbelt going into this hot-wired terrain.
Christa’s advice for the next 8 years landed in my body when she said it and I have been thinking about it ever since: protect your psychic bandwidth, reduce the noise, and practice your intuition like a muscle. What is coming through this transit is going to be extraordinary and new. And you won’t be able to receive it if you are already burnt out on too much information. Speaking of learning to trust your own signal in an era of Uranian disruption:
I opened enrollment this week for a course I have been building for a long time. It is called Your Heart Is a Compass, and it starts May 19th.
It is built around one idea: the heart is not just a center of feeling or a pump moving blood through the body. The heart is a navigation system.
