The sky is about to catch fire. This Libra full moon is your well of resources.

Welcome to another lunar episode of Living the Spiral, in honor of the first full moon out of eclipse season. As we dive into the mystical energy of this Libra lunation on April 1st (or 2nd depending on your time zone) at 10:11 p.m. EDT, we’re not just observing another predictable celestial event. Instead, we’re at the cusp of an extraordinary cosmic alignment.

This moon serves as a gateway to what I call the “month of fire,” which is accentuated by a unique convergence of 7 celestial bodies in the cardinal fire sign of Aries. The harmonious balance of the relational Libra moon with all this independent, initiatory Aries energy brings in a vibe of deep reflection, and sets the stage for profound transformation and growth as we prepare to move through the catalytic month ahead.

The full moon in Libra perfects on April 1st or 2nd depending on where you are in the world, and it falls in Gate 48 in the Human Design body graph. Gate 48 is known as the Gate of Depth or The Well/. The hexagram from the I’Ching is exactly that image: a well with a rope and a bucket, deep mineral water that holds the memory of the earth and all of the beings that came before us.

Gate 48 lives in the Spleen center, the seat of primal knowing in the body, and its Gene Keys progression moves from the shadow of inadequacy through the gift of resourcefulness into the siddhi of wisdom.

Across the sky from that moon, the sun is sitting in Gate 21, Biting Through, in the Ego or Will center. This is the energy of the hunter with the bow already raised (read more about this gate in the latest Mandala 64 Walk post:

With the sun in gate 21, we’re in a conscious period of controlling our environments. Taking action, with no hesitation, no checking twice, no dropping the bucket down and waiting for it to come back up. Just aim the arrow and release it.

And along with the sun, pretty much every other planet in the sky is also stacking up in Aries: Mars enters Aries on April 9th, then Mercury, then the moon coming around to join for the Aries new moon on April 17th, bringing us to seven celestial bodies in Aries at once. The Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Saturn, and Neptune. All of them (and Pluto and Uranus too) are in direct motion, with no retrogrades happening until May 6th. In the year of the fire horse, this means we’re finally speeding up to a gallop and running toward the horizon.

This episode is really about the conversation between the well and the fire, which is also the conversation between depth and decisiveness, between what you already know in your bones and what the sky is asking you to do with it.

Gate 48’s shadow shows up as a particular flavor of imposter syndrome where the wisdom is there at the bottom of the well, and the bucket is just sitting at the top with the rope coiled in your lap. You keep deciding it is not quite time yet, with insecurity that you’re not enough keeping you from going deep. That there is something you still need before you can pull the water up, dip your arrow in, and shoot it into the world.

This full moon is a beautiful quiet mirror before the stellium of planets in Aries really builds up the energy. This lunation is truly a powerful moment to go down into your well, to the wisdom and resources of your ancestors and the roots of the earth. Spend some time in the depths, and let what you discover down there become your fuel for the fire in the cosmos that lies ahead of us.

I also talk through the celestial bodies and points that make aspects to this full moon: Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius making a sextile to the moon, which brings a wild and untamed quality to that depth, an invitation to let the unpolished and unrefined parts of your knowing in alongside the ancestral and cultivated wisdom.

And Jupiter in Cancer squares both the sun and the moon in a T-square, asking which well you are pulling resources from and whether the roots you are drawing on are the ones nourishing you right now, or just the familiar ones.

There is also a short somatic practice toward the end of the episode for Gate 48, bringing your right hand to your left side, to the spleen, and breathing into that space to feel into what you know in your body. This splenic knowing is not what you have studied or what you can teach, but what you inherently know from having lived inside a body for this many years, and inside a web of ancestral relations for this many generations.

This full moon is the last quiet moment before April fully fires up, so take advantage of rituals that connect you to your inner knowing, your past, and your guides.
